Sass, Jean Rose (nee Straus)
Passed away suddenly on Monday November 8, 2010 at the age of 77. Jean was the epitome of family. She was blessed with a 56 year marriage with her great love and best friend Ronald Edward Sass. She was passionate about her family; those who were privileged to call her Mom and Nana; Patty (nee Sass) and Gary Gow and their children Amy and Jim; Joanne Sass-Williams and Lloyd Williams and their children Laura and Kurtis; Bill and Rosalind Sass and their children Jason and Emily; Judith (nee Sass) and the late Michael Myddelton and their children Stephen and Victoria. She leaves behind a host of sisters, brothers, and “out-laws;” Eileen, Rita and Pete, Grace, Don and Barb, Jim and Mary, Kelly and Pat, Anne and Russ, Murray and Mary, Joan and John. She will be remembered as “Auntie Jean”, by a multitude of nieces, nephews and adopted family. Family wasn’t just those who are related by birth. Jean always extended the privilege of family to those around her. Her kitchen was never closed, she had nose for those in need and a gift for making people welcome. She made us laugh with her corny sense of humour and she kept us warm with her quilts. Her life was defined by a commitment to her family, those around her and her faith. You are welcome to join us in a celebration of a life lived at the Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, 30 Worsley St., Barrie from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday. Funeral Mass at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 65 Amelia St. On Saturday November 13, 2010 at 9:30 a.m. Cremation. If desired, donations may be made to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul or a charity of your choice. Condolences may be forwarded through www.steckleygooderham.com
