Passed peacefully at the Royal Victoria Hospital, Barrie on Monday, February 5th, 2018 at the age of 84. Loving husband of Judy (nee Chong) for 62 years. Honoured father of Tim Lem (Ann) and Andy Lem (Lin). Cherished grandfather of Jarrett, Victoria, Alexandra and David. Will be sadly missed by his brother Dick Lem, as well as many life-long friends. Jim will be most fondly remembered as proprietor of the Miramar Gardens Chinese Restaurant, which he opened in 1962 alongside his father’s restaurant, Roy Lem Café, on Dunlop Street in Barrie. Visitation will take place at the Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, 30 Worsley St., Barrie on Thursday, February 15th, 2018 from 7-9 pm and on Saturday, February 17th from 12 pm until the time we celebrate Jim’s life in the Chapel at 1 pm. Following the service, guests are invited to remain for a reception luncheon in the Lounge. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Terry Fox Foundation or Heart and Stroke Foundation would be greatly appreciated by the family.
