DICKSON, John Gould
Passed away peacefully at home on September 10, 2013, at the age of 83. Loving husband of Maria and father to Terry (Jean), Laura, Kate, Michelle, and Michael (Cindy). Proud grandfather of Rian (April), Stefan, Jason (Lise), Adriana, David and Tyler. Proud great-grandfather of Corbin. John was a member of the Royal Canadian Air Force, serving as an engine mechanic during the 1950’s and achieving the rank of Corporal. Following his military service, John worked for Black & Decker Canada, Ltd., then at Columbia Metals, which all led to his distinguished 27-year career at Reynolds Aluminum Ltd. John retired from Reynolds as the National Sales Development Manager, responsible for the company’s Canadian sales and marketing promotional initiatives. John was a highly skilled photographer and woodworker, who approached every project with the eye of a perfectionist and the passion of an artist. The family dinner table in their Palgrave home was just one of his many finely crafted creations. A visitation will take place on Friday, September 13, at the Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home Minet’s Point Road Chapel, 201 Minets Point Road, Barrie, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. His funeral mass will be Saturday, September 14, at St. John Vianney Church, 13 Baldwin Lane, Barrie, at 10 am. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Oncology Department of the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre (RVH) in Barrie. Condolences can be forwarded to www.steckleygooderham.com
