PHILLIPS, Dr. John (Jack) Redmond - Peacefully at the RVH, Barrie on July 3, 2015, at the age of 95. Predeceased by his beloved wife of sixty years, Mary (January 3, 2015). Loving father of Angela, Paul and his wife Hélène Michaud, Celeste and her husband Dale MacKenzie, and Norah. Proud Papa to Meg, Jack and Will MacKenzie, and to Chloé and Mélodie Phillips. Predeceased by his sister Josephine Battle. He will be dearly missed by his sister Patricia Foerster, his sister-in-law Helen and her husband William Keller, many nieces and nephews and their families, and by friends in the arts and bridge communities. Born and raised in Oakville to Mary and Charles Phillips, Jack went on to graduate in both pharmacy and medicine, then served as a country doctor and coroner in Brechin and as a family physician and consulting doctor in Barrie. Jack was a warm and caring individual who was always interested in others and in learning new things. Among his leisure-time activities were bridge, cooking, gardening, opera, painting, skiing, swimming, tennis, world travel, and finding a place in the sun. Private burial. Memorial Mass to take place at St. Mary's Church, Barrie on Monday July 13 at 10:30 a.m. The family will receive guests one hour prior to the mass at the church; reception to follow in the parish hall.
