John is survived by his wife Helen-Joy McGee, three children: Beverley McGee (Warren), Edward McGee and Patrick McGee (Shayne) and four grandchildren: Adam McGee, Jacqueline McGee, Rebecca McGee-Woods and Colin McGee-Woods.

John McGee was born May 25th 1941 to William and Jean McGee in Toronto Ontario.  John graduated from the University of Toronto with a degree in Electrical Engineering in 1963 and received his designation as a P. ENG in 1965.

John’s career started at General Electric and Ferranti-Packard in Guelph and St. Catherine’s before joining Ontario Hydro in 1969 up to his retirement working in Central and South Western Regions in various leadership roles.  John went on to work with the Ontario Energy Board (OEB)in consultative roles after his retirement.

John and his wife Helen- Joy McGee (née. Gogan), met in 1958 at a Scouting and Guiding camp and married May 18th 1963.   John and Helen-Joy had just celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary.

John enjoyed building and renovating buildings and relished a technical challenge.  He was a long-time cottager at Horseshoe Lake near Parry Sound Ontario and was known to many as part of his involvement with the local cottage association on Horseshoe Lake and the Federation of Ontario Cottagers.

His ultimate passion was his family, he was a patient and loving Husband, Father and Grandfather.  A friend and mentor to his children and grandchildren, his guiding principle was that you needed to give your children “roots and wings”.
