Elliott: John Orvil
passed away peacefully at his home in Midhurst on Tuesday June 19, 2012 in his 81st year. Beloved husband of Margaret (nee Hoskin). Loving father of Robert (Cindy), Scott, and David (Julia). He will be sadly missed by his grandchildren Laura, Lindsay, Amanda, Brandon, Brianna, Emily and Sarah. Predeceased by his grandson Adam. Dear brother of Dilwyn Hubbs (Donald) and the late Mingy Elliott. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. John was a man who was passionate about all things in business, but even more passionate about his family. He started Elliott Mobile Mix at a young age in Cobourg, and founded Custom Concrete in 1964, which grew to be Canada’s largest privately owned ready mix company. In 1970, John purchased the Sarjeant Co. Ltd. in Barrie, which is still operated by his son Scott. The Sarjeant Company includes a subsidiary in Timmins, Custom Concrete (Northern). Friends may visit at the Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, 30 Worsley St. Barrie from 6-9 p.m on Friday June 22, 2012. A private family service will be held at Midhurst Union Cemetery.
