It is with great sadness; we share the passing of John Haines. After a lengthy battle with health issues, John passed peacefully on August 10th, 2023 at the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre in Barrie. He is survived by Jane (née Swayne), his life partner and loving wife of 52 years whom he shared a life of travel and adventure. He was a proud father of his sons Ruston (Tristina) and Brad (Jana) and a loving grandpa to Angelina (Aaron), Julianna, Braxton and loving papa to Michael and Alyssa. He also leaves behind sister Marlene MacDonald (Donald), brother in-laws Ron (Claudette) and Al (late Rachelle), and sister in-law Judy (Bob). John is predeceased by his parents Ray and Eleanor Haines.

John grew up in the Bondhead/Alliston area where he developed his love of sport and fast cars.  After school he met and married the love of his life Jane. He spent the first 25 years of his working life crisscrossing the continent as a truck driver, often with Jane by his side. He later became the owner of Al’s Tire Centre (Firestone) and proudly served the community for another 25 years while continued their adventures through boating, cruising the islands and their home in Florida. Always one to help, he used his love of golf to support local charities and fostered many great friendships through his Wednesday afternoon golf league. John was the ultimate family man; nothing was more important to him than his family.

A Celebration of Life will take place at the Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, 30 Worsley St., Barrie on Saturday August 19th, 2023 from 1-4 pm. Online memories and condolences may be forwarded via www.steckleygooderham.com. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations made to the CCU and ICU at the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre.
