Peacefully at Grove Park Home in Barrie on June 25th, 2014 in his 88th year. Beloved husband of the late Myra Chalmers. Dear father of John (Wendy) and Bruce (Stephanie). Proud grandfather of Sarah, Ian, Kendra, Dan, Lindsey and Matthew. Always remembered by sisters Irene Mancuso (Late Peter), Marion Hislop (Charles), Helen Anderson (David), Ann Gibb (Glen), and brother Douglas Fanning (Elaine). John's presence and contribution to his church will be always remembered and he will be greatly missed. The family would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the staff at Grove Park Home for their loving and compassionate care. Family and friends will be received at The Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Homes, 30 Worsley St., Barrie on Wednesday July 2nd 2014 from 7 pm to 9 pm.
A celebration of John's life will take place at The Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 220 Steel Street, Barrie on Thursday July 3rd, 2014 starting at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Stroke Recovery Association of Barrie or The Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, and are greatly appreciated.
