Joseph “Fern” Fernand Theriault was born July 28, 1936. Born into a large loving catholic family he is survived by seven of his 12 siblings. Fern grew up in the beautiful St John River valley in the village of Ste-Anne-de-Madawaska in the province of New Brunswick

The farm boy moved to the big city and became an entrepreneur owning and operating a service station. Then moved onto salesmanship with Snap-On Tools. Although successful he will best be remembered as a dedicated family man.

Fern never seemed to be in a bad mood and loved a good party. He danced like Fred Astaire and would sing at the drop of a word.

Fern sadly died December 8, 2023 at Royal Victoria Hospital in Barrie Ontario.

He had been feeling poorly and declined in health for the last few months. He will always be remembered by his loving wife of 62 years, Yvette, their three children and their spouses, Susan (Wayne), Michael (Lori), Lynn (the late Scott) and his seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He will be missed by his extended family members and many dear friends.

Visitation will take place at the Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, 30 Worsley St., Barrie on Sunday, December 17th, 2023 from 2-4 pm. Funeral Mass will take place at the St. John Vianney Parish, 13 Baldwin Lane., Barrie on Monday, December 18th, 2023 at 11 am. Reception to follow inside the Church Hall. A private interment will occur in the Spring at the St. John’s Catholic Cemetery in Waubaushene. Donations in Fern’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Simcoe County and are greatly appreciated by the family. Online condolences and memories may be left at www.steckleygooderham.com
