Passed away peacefully at Hospice Simcoe, on Saturday, September 21, 2013 in his 88th year. Joe Whelan, beloved husband of Margaret (nee Brennan). Loving father of Mary Ann Pope (Tony), Dr. Paul Whelan and Greg Whelan (Cathy). Cherished grandfather of Sarah, Erin, Lauren, Jordan, Kaitlyn, Kyla and great grandfather of Delaney and Anderson. He is survived by 4 brothers and 2 sisters. Friends may call at the Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, 30 Worsley St., Barrie, on Tuesday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. Funeral Mass at St. Mary's Church, 65 Amelia St., Barrie, on Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at 10 am, followed by cremation.
