On Friday May 24, 2024 Joyce Lorraine Purdy (nee Spanton) passed away peacefully at her home in Barrie.
Joyce was born in 1933 in East York, the youngest of 5 siblings.
She met her soulmate, Elton John Purdy “Al” (pre-deceased) the summer she was 18 and married in 1951. They had two boys, Glenn (pre-deceased) and David.
Through house moves from coast to coast, Joyce a dedicated mother and wife, made each house truly a home for her husband and sons, making lasting friends in every community.
In Barrie, she worked with Centen Builders, custom homes and renovations, as a designer, estimator and office manager and then later co-owned KWH Sales, forming life long friendships with her clients.
Joyce was compassionate, positive and loved her family unconditionally.
She will be missed sorely by her son David (Pat), daughter-in-law Dianne, grandchildren, Kyle, and Nicole (Jarred), her nephews and nieces and their families.
A celebration of life will be held at STECKLEY-GOODERHAM FUNERAL HOME, 30 Worsley St., Barrie on Friday May 31, 2024 from 1 – 3 PM, with words of remembrance to be shared at 1:30 PM.
In memory of Joyce and in lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation Canada may be made.
