Szwed, Julian

Passed away peacefully at home on Sunday April 5th, 2015 in his 73rd year surrounded by family. Beloved husband of Anne. Cherished father of David and Christine (John). Proud Poppy to Jessica and Samantha, Uncle to Jim (Lorna), John (deceased), Sean (Jamie), and Michael. Survived by his sister Annie (Joseph), and sister-in-law Elizabeth (Billy). Predeceased by Parents Michael and Irene and, sister-in-law Nancy. Sadly missed by other dear family members and close friends. Julian was born in Germany and had a rough start in life, but immigrated to Canada when he was 5 years old. He lived in Toronto for most of his younger years and met the love of his life when he was only 21, Anne and Julian were married in 1964. They shared 51 years of marriage prior to his passing, and he is dearly missed by both his wife and 2 children, and granddaughters. Julian was passionate about building things, be it renovating the family home, his job as a carpenter or building model ships, neighbors would often see him in his garage making something out of wood and listening to Luciano Pavarotti at full volume. He also loved a good fishing trip with his son and friends over the years. He had a passion for Photography, especially on family trips, sunsets were his favorite type of scenery and he would often interrupt anything he was doing to get that perfect sunset picture.
Family and friends will be received at Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, 30 Worsley Street, Barrie, Ontario on Saturday April 11, 2015 from 12 noon until the time we celebrate his life in the chapel at 1 pm. Special thanks to Dr. Alain Sacksen and Dr. Derek Nay at RVH in Barrie. Online condolences and memories may be left at www.steckleygooderham.com
