BATTERSBY, Karen
Passed peacefully at her home in Oro-Medonte on April 27th, 2021 at the age of 69. Predeceased by her husband John Scheel. Will be sadly missed by her step-sons Mathew and John Scheel. Predeceased by her father Ron Battersby and mother Jean Spring (nee Crilly).
Karen worked at Tambrands Canada from 1972 until her retirement in 1993. She first met John in 1974 and shared a life of adventures together until his passing in 2016. They started boating out of Barrie Marina in 1985 until 2000, and camping in their trailer until 2014. Karen survived her first bout of cancer in 2010 and, with John firmly by her side until his passing in 2016, she continued to battle recurrences of the disease until it finally took her life.
Those who knew Karen best will fondly remember her warm compassion, love of her pets and joy of cooking. Friends and family will forever be reminded of her when they hear a song by the Beach Boys, Peter, Paul and Mary, or ABBA.
