DONALDSON, Kenneth Ross
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Kenneth Ross Donaldson, born February 2, 1963 in Kingston. Kenneth passed away peacefully on May 17, 2023 in Barrie.
Ken was a loving father to Shane and Samantha, and a proud grandfather to Levi. A devoted partner to (Amy) Lynn Cruickshank, and caring father figure to Tyler, Justin, and Lea. He was a beloved son of Melville and Janette Donaldson, and a cherished brother to Karen Burke and Krista Poole. Ken will also be missed by all his family, including Lucas and Cooper, his beloved dogs.
Many who knew Ken can recall his care-free, easy-going attitude to most things in life except when it came to two things, sports and cards. If Ken wasn’t cheering on the Toronto Blue Jays or cursing at the Toronto Maple Leafs for blowing another one, Ken would be looking for any other sport on TV. He’d take anything, even curling! There was a story of when Ken went with friends on a bus down to see a Jays game and they had Blue Jays trivia on the way. The other passengers wanted to kick Ken off the bus as he got the answer to every question. Every. Single. One. During a night of cards, euchre or 31 would be the game of choice. Before you even had a chance to look at your hand, Ken was already listing off the cards you had. He might have been wrong, but you’d be surprised at how close he was.
A Celebration of Life will be held on June 3, 2023 from 1-4pm at Donaleigh’s Irish Pub House in downtown Barrie. It will be a casual affair and, in honour of Ken, please wear your favourite team jersey if you have one. In lieu of flowers we ask that donations be made in Ken’s memory to either: Jumpstart, so future generations can grow up appreciating sports the way Ken did. Or the Heart and Stroke Foundation, to try and help other loved ones from leaving us too soon.
