He attended West Hill High School and graduated from Engineering (Mech) at McGill University in 1948. Kent worked for Ingersoll-Rand in Montreal and Toronto (1948-64) and the Noranda Group of Companies (1964-71). In 1972 Kent started his own tax recovery business known as Kent N Richardson & Associates. He proudly ran this company until retiring in 2012. He served in the R.A.F. Ferry Command; as a Director, Toronto District Purchasing Management Association of Canada; member of the Canadian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy, Professional Engineers of Ontario and The Engineers Club of Toronto. He had been a member of the Royal St. Lawrence Yacht Club, the Royal Canadian Yacht Club and a Brother of Sigma Chi. Kent was a Queen’s Scout and a volunteer with Scouts Canada and Hospice Simcoe. He had been an avid outdoors man and enjoyed his hobbies of hunting, fishing, sailing, skiing and collecting stamps.
Kent is predeceased by his daughter Jocelyn, and survived by his wife Charlotte (Shaw), former wife Janet (Nicholson) Stovel, his children Gail, Gavin (Isabella), Ian (Pat), Keith (Carolyn), Heather (Dave) and Bruce (Maureen), his ten grandchildren and three great grandchildren. At Kent’s request a funeral will not be held but a memorial service will be held later in the year. In lieu of flowers donations to Emmanuel Church, Barrie would be appreciated.
