On October 15, 2018, Laila Penttinen passed away of natural causes in Barrie, Ontario. She was born in Toronto on July 31, 1929 and grew up on the farm in Beaver Lake, Ontario with her brother Leo and parents Helmi and Yrjo Palomaki, who had earlier immigrated from Finland. Laila is predeceased by her husband Unto in 2001 and brother Leo in 2013. Laila will be greatly missed by her daughter Susan (Robert) and son Stanley (Elizabeth), her seven grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
