Peacefully passed away on Saturday August 23rd, with his family at his side after a courageous battle with cancer. Survived by his best friend and loving wife of 46 years, Jenni. He will be greatly missed by his children Jason (Leigh) and Nikki (B.A.), his mother Mabel and the twinkle of his eye, his granddaughter, Laurel. Remembered by his extended family from Chatham area as well as brothers-in-law, Christopher and Russell (Jacqui) and his nephew, Simon and niece, Avril. Larry proudly served Ontario Hydro for 31 years, then key consultant to Five Nations Energy James Bay projects and member/President of the Orillia Light and Power Board in his busy retirement. He still found time for his passion, golf and treasured his time with his Monday night golf league friends. A memorial service will be held at Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, 201 Minet's Point Road, Barrie Ontario starting at 2 pm. on Thursday, August 28, 2014. A celebration gathering at his local watering hole, Wickies 274 Burton Ave, Barrie, will follow the service at approximately 3:30pm. His family would especially like to recognize the wonderful work of the nurses, doctors and support staff at Mount Sinai and Royal Victoria Hospitals during Larry's brave fight. Special recognition to his home healthcare nurse, Christine, for her incredible support. In lieu of flowers, a donation in Larry's name may be made to the Simcoe County Carriage Driving for the Disabled where he was a volunteer.
