Margaret Rose Alice Cooper (nee Goring) of Barrie, sadly passed away on February 3, 2015 at age 80. She was also known as "NanaBrit", "Marg" or "Peggy" to her various friends and family. She is survived by her family here in Canada and her brother Dennis (Leann) and other family in England. She is now reunited with her beloved husband of 57 years, the late Roy Cooper, who passed away on October 24, 2009 at age 79.

Margaret and Roy were much loved parents to Ian (Gail), Guy (Leslie) and Roy (Kimberly Sandy). They were Nana and Grandad to their loving grandchildren Derek (Breanne), Devin, Christopher (Cassie Hughes), Justin (Kylye Hirschfield), Kaitlyn, Cory, Rayne and Wesley. Margaret was Great-Nana to her treasured great grandchildren Ross, William, Finn, Cambree and Travis.

They are and will be greatly missed by their family and friends. Both Mum and Dad were born in Hastings, Sussex England and lived there until they immigrated to Canada in 1957 with their eldest son, Ian. After living in Toronto for 4 years and extending their family with two additional sons, Guy and Roy; they moved their family to Fort Chimo (Kuujjuaq) Quebec where Dad was employed by the Federal Government’s Department of Northern Affairs and Natural Resources from February 1961 to June 1966. Upon their return to Ontario in 1966, they lived in Scarborough until after Dad’s retirement in 1990. Dad was a plumber by trade and a member of UA Local 46 Toronto. To formally retire, they relocated to Barrie and enjoyed going to their trailer at the Hammock Harbour in Orillia and creating beautiful stained glass items for various friends and family. Many thanks to all the Barrie and Burlington CCAC workers, doctors and nurses who help us to keep Mum at home with us until the end.

We invite you to a celebration of Mum’s and Dad’s lives at the Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, 30 Worsley Street, Barrie on Saturday, March 7, 2015 from 1-4 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. Online condolences www.steckleygooderham.com.
