Marguerite Phyllis Booth, nee, Duval. August 20, 1929-July 6, 2018.
Our Dear Mom, Gramma, Great-Gramma passed away peacefully in the wee
hours of July 6, 2018 at Soldiers Memorial Hospital in Orillia, Ontario.
She had the company of many family members surrounding her with love during
the week of her admission, and tender loving care by the staff of the hospital as
she worked her way out of this life towards reunion with her Blessed Lord Jesus
and her dear husband Tom Booth. Her daughter Christine was her closest
companion in the years following Tom’s departure.
Marg, as she was known to many, was the proud mother of Christine Wozniak
and Mark Manchester. Marg also shared the love of Tom’s children, Virginia,
Shirley and Don. She adored her grandchildren, Janice and Laura, Marie, Emma,
Lucy and Jack, John, Chandra and Barb. She was delighted to meet her great
grandchildren, Josh, Serena, Danielle, Rivley and Jemima June Marguerite. Her
sixth great granddaughter, Frances was born on the day before her departure.
This seemed thoroughly Gramma to all of us, making sure the job was happily
complete before she took leave.
Our Gramma was the eldest of five children from Miriam and Jack Duval. She is
survived by Beverley Barnes and Paul Duval. She was pre-deceased by her
brothers Brooke, and John. She was ‘Auntie Marg’ to Cathie, Heather, Bonnie
and Charles, Jay and Brooke, Leslie, David & Robert and David-jonathan
Germain. She was described as like a second mom to her siblings.
Marguerite was talented at so many things, having been a working mom starting
as head lab technologist in Barrie for many years; she also had a clear tuneful
voice and sang in a barbershop choir; was a crack bridge player; the skip of
her curling team; president of the local PTA at Johnson St Public School; taught
Power Squadron to new sailors; made her daughter’s wedding dress; sewed
countless pajamas each Christmas for her grandchildren; taught many of them to
knit; knitted tiny hats for newborns; served on the Altar Guild at two Anglican
churches--Trinity and St Giles--was the one who would drive someone to and
from church on any given Sunday.
Marguerite spent recent years in the Orillia residence of Leacock Retirement
Lodge where she made many friends and enjoyed loving support. A special
mention goes out to Sharon Gardner for her caring company. Mom’s Celebration
of Life will be conducted at Trinity Anglican Church, Barrie, on Monday, July 23, 2018 from 11:00am to 12:00pm. Reception to follow at the Church.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations in Marguerite's name may be made to the Canadian Red Cross.

Condolences
