With great sadness and heavy hearts we announce Mario’s passing on July 23rd, 2024 at the age of 69, concluding his battle with cancer at home in Barrie, surrounded by the love and support of his family by his side.

Mario leaves behind the longtime love of his life, Sandra Kelly. Dear brother of David Williamson (Sandy) and of the late Roger Williamson. Most loving, caring father to Carly Zelantini (Dino), Shaun Williamson (Stephanie), and Sheila Kelly. Cherished grampa to Aurelia, Julietta, Aidan, Avery, Airyn, Arwen, Joseph, Austin, Greyson, and Ashlynn.  Loving uncle to Lindsey, Ashley, and Matthew. Predeceased by his parents Arnold and Norma Williamson, of Swift Current, Saskatchewan.

Mario’s true passion was in the concrete business, where he worked for most of his life in Barrie, Ontario. Recreationally, he loved watching basketball – especially the Toronto Raptors. A very special ‘thank you’ to Paul and Janice O’Mahony of O’Mahony Concrete Forming, where he spent most of his professional career and who became very close friends over the years. Additionally, Mario was affectionally known by many in the trade, including Lafarge Concrete, Sarjeant’s Concrete, and Mark and Suzanne of Simcoe Concrete Forming.

He will be sadly missed by many long-time friends and colleagues in the Barrie area, especially by those closest to the family: Fil (Litsa) and family of Fil’s Café, Art Thompson (Shirley) and family, John Phillips (Sue) and family, Stan Conyers (Sherry), Theo, and family, his buddy Alvin Ayers (Sandra’s brother of Owen Sound), and Jim Houghton (Aileen) and family. Loved and will be missed by longtime friends out west.

The family would like to take this opportunity to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Robert Bickle (family physician) and staff, Dr. Nay (oncologist), nurse Tracey, and to the warmest, loving team of Homecare Nurses who were so tremendous with him at home; Sydney, Nadia, Wendy, Elsa, and Heather.

From Sandra: “May you rest in peace, my love. I will meet with you one day.  Now, I must continue my own journey.  I love you and will miss you very much.”

Private family arrangements have taken place. Cards of condolence and support may be forwarded via the Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, 30 Worsley St., Barrie and are greatly appreciated by the family.
