Mary Lou Hayes (nee Dorion) age 77, passed away on All Souls Day, November 2, 2019 after a long, hard battle with Alzheimer’s. Born in Tiny Twp, she was the youngest child of Margaret and Octave Dorion. In addition to her own family, she took care of her parents when her mom became unable to walk. Living in the Barrie area, she was married to and loved by the late Bob Hayes (1998) for 39 years. She loved her children Laurie (Mark) Cassell and Vince (Siobhan) Hayes, as well as her grandchildren Ben (Emma Dost) Cassell, Adam Cassell, Paul Cassell, Caitlin Hayes, Olivia Hayes, Laura Fennelly, Nicole Fennelly, Lily Fennelly and Fern Fennelly, and would have been overjoyed to know she had great grandchildren, Joseph and Eloise. Predeceased by her brothers Aurel and Robert Dorion, she is survived by her sister Dianne Stanley, as well as beloved nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank the staff at Saint Luke’s Place, Cambridge ON for the loving care and kindness shown to Mary Lou. Staff stopped by her room in her last hours and afterwards to share how much they will miss Mary Lou’s humour, hugs, and when she could, her expressed appreciation for the things they did for her. They told how she loved her cat Tippy, carrying him everywhere. She will be remembered for co-authoring a family genealogy, and for her service and care in her late career as a PSW. Visitation will be at Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, 30 Worsley St., Barrie on Friday, Nov. 8th, 2019 from 7 – 9 p.m. Funeral Mass to take place Saturday, Nov. 9th, 2019 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 65 Amelia St., Barrie at 10 a.m. Interment at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Barrie with Reception to follow at the Comfort Inn Venue, 210 Essa Rd., Barrie.
