O’Connor, Michael John
age 48, of Ivy, passed away at Royal Victoria Hospital on June 11, 2011. Mike was a hemophiliac who received blood products contaminated with Hepatitis C. Mike will be sadly missed by his wife, Patty Lechten, son Ryan O’Connor, parents Norvel and Marilyn O’Connor, mother-in-law Mary Lechten and siblings Cathy Pigeon and husband Stephen, Laurie De Benedet and husband Dennis, and Bill O’Connor and partner Julia Moon. Mike loved and will be missed by nieces, Jessica and Sarah and nephews, Travis and Ben. Mike will miss his pets and sleeping companions, Henry, Holly, Clem, Cosmo and Ringo. Mike loved all sports. He was often found watching sports on TV wearing the appropriate jersey, hat, etc. with the appropriate equipment in hand – ball glove, golf club or football. He was a lifetime member of Tangle Creek Golf Club. Mike loved fishing and would show anyone interested the 49 inch musky on the wall. Mike loved to travel and had to visit every sports store, ballpark, golf course available. He got great joy from family trips to Ireland, Germany, Italy and Mexico. In his last years, Mike has enjoyed the companionship of his friends, particularly the guys at the Army, Navy and Air Force Club. Friends may call at the Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, 30 Worsley St. Barrie, from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday and from 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday June 15, 2011 until the time of the Funeral Service in the Chapel at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations to Canadian Liver Foundation, Trillium Gift of Life Network and Sick Kids Hospital would be appreciated.
