It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Richard Norman Michael Kostecki, known to most as “Mike”. Mike died after a lengthy illness and a hard fought battle, on Tuesday December 24, 2013 at the age of 42, at his home in Minesing, Ontario. Mike was the adored first born son of Pamela Kostecki and the late Richard Kostecki. Mike is survived by his grandfather, Norman Servos, Uncle Jim and Aunt Jan. Mike was a great big brother to Christopher and his wife, Mira; and Robert and his wife, Katy, and a wonderful uncle to Conner and Mason, Cody and Cole. Mike will be sorely missed, never forgotten and forever loved by his wonderful children; Jessica Shaw (16), Cameron Whitfield (15), Kylie Kostecki (15), and Braedan Whitfield-Kostecki (11). Mike loved his children with all his heart. Mike was more than just a father he was “daddy”. He taught his children many wonderful things and always encouraged them to do their best, go the extra mile, to be strong and independent, and to be kind and caring people. Mike’s passion and zest for life lives on through his children. Mike will also be terribly missed by Elayne Whitfield and Jennifer Van Nest. Mike was a very supportive friend and partner in parenting. Michael was a true fighter who never gave up, met challenges head on with courage and resilience. Mike will be fondly remembered for his passionate and free spirit, his love for his children, family and friends, his love of nature, the outdoors, music, and anything with an engine. If you would like to make a donation in lieu of flowers his children request that donations in Mike’s memory be made to Spinal Cord Injury Ontario (formerly the Canadian Paraplegic Association).

Condolences
