Warnica, Murray Ronald
At 85 years, peacefully left this life on May 13, 2014. Dementia over the last few years had taken away his ability to participate fully in a life that he cherished. Murray was a loving and devoted husband and father. He is survived by his ‘Maggie’, Margaret Anne Ness and their twins, Cathy Edgar (David) of Kingston, Carol of Barrie and Glen (Cherryl) of Thornton. He was a fun-loving yet quiet, respectful example to his grandchildren, Jake, Kate, Rhett, Mitchell, Daniel and Landon. His children and grandchildren turned to him for calm, sound advice. He was predeceased by his parents Bert and Helen Warnica and his sisters Belle Reynolds and Lil Brown. Murray lived an honourable life, respectful of his heritage as the 6th generation on the Warnica farm in Painswick. He farmed Registered Polled Hereford cattle and developed incredible talents in wood working and stone work. Murray enjoyed his family and friends and was often up to some antics. He liked to show the kids how he could ride his bike backwards as well as curling, coaching baseball and skating. He participated in church callings, especially enjoying the music and choir as well as fulfilling leadership roles. Friends may call at the Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, 30 Worsley St., Barrie, on Tuesday, May 20, 2014, from 2-4 & 7-9 pm and at Collier St. United Church, 112 Collier St., Barrie, on Wednesday May 21, 2014, from 1 pm until time of Memorial Service at 2 pm. Thanks to loving staff at Victoria Village for their care and compassion. Donations may be made to Cancer Society, Heart and Stroke Fund or Collier St United Church.
