Mr. Randall (Randy) Scott passed away on Wednesday, February 22nd, 2017, just one day after his 66th birthday. Randy had spent the day celebrating this milestone in one of the ways he loved best; outside in the fresh air skiing at Blue Mountain. Randy and his wife of 42 years, Anita Scott, were enjoying a quiet drink together in the chalet they had rented for the occasion when he passed away. His last day was one that he thoroughly enjoyed.

Randy will be greatly missed by Anita, her parents Varis and Ausma Pludons, his son Erik Scott and daughter-in-law Michelle Scott, and his daughter Karin Fischer (nee Scott) and son-in-law Chris Fischer. Randy is also survived by his sister, Trisha Stiff (nee Scott), her husband Michael Stiff, as well as their son Matthew Stiff, his wife Serena Stiff, and their baby Muira. His oldest grandson, Connor Scott (age 5), who first named him “Papa”, will miss seeing him walk down the street to play a game of hockey in the driveway. Kennedy Scott and Thomas Fischer (both age 2), loved the way he played “chase” and always welcomed them onto his lap for a story. Finally, his youngest granddaughter, Allison Fischer (age 4 months), will miss the way he held her so gently in his arms.

Randy will also be missed by his Sir Winston Churchill High School “gang”, his old friends and colleagues from his teaching days at Downsview Secondary and C.W. Jefferys Collegiate Institute, as well as his hockey buddies and baseball league friends. Please join us to share a drink or story in Randy’s memory at Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, 201 Minets Point Rd., Barrie, on Tuesday, February 28, 2017 from 2pm-5pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to RVH’s Cardiac Care Unit.
