Passed away peacefully Sunday, March 24, 2013, in his 90th year. Beloved husband of Elizabeth (nee Grant). Loving father of Brenda Smith (Peter), Denise Burnett (Bob), Joanne Sutherland, Grant Sutherland (Heather), Alison Sutherland (John Deveen) and cherished grandfather to 12 grandchildren and one granddaughter-in-law. Survived by his brother Bobbie (Lottie) and his sister Priscilla (Rick). Laurie will also be greatly missed by his extended family.
His indomitable spirit brought him through the depression, the war years, his early years as a minister in Alberta, and the many challenges of raising five children. This spirit also shone through in his struggle to stay long enough to say a personal goodbye to each of us.
A memorial service will be held at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, 47 Owen Street, Barrie, on Saturday, March 30, 2013, at 11 AM. Condolences can be forwarded to www.steckleygooderham.com.
