PAPAIS, Rodolfo (Rudy) Ermando

October 9, 1932 – July 22, 2024

Peacefully passed at the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre on Monday, July 22nd, 2024 at the age of 91 years. Loving son of Luigi Papais and Palmira Bellina. Beloved husband of Maria (née Odorico). Loving father of Diane and Lilli (Dave). Proud Nonno of Michael and Sabrina. Dear brother of Peter (Rosanna), Dino (Anna) and predeceased by Iole (the late Giannino), Giuseppina (the late Giuseppe), Osvaldo (the late Angie) and Gino (Rose). Will be missed by his grand-dogs Sandie and Ginger, many nieces and nephews, extended family members and many dear friends.

Rodolfo was born in Italy and immigrated to Canada in 1958. He married Maria in 1961. They had two daughters. He worked for many years as a bricklayer.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting and being outdoors. He loved gardening, woodcarving and making homemade wine and salami. He liked to watch soccer and hockey. He was a Montreal Canadiens fan. He treasured spending time with family and friends.

Visitation will take place on Friday, August 9th, 2024 at the Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, 30 Worsley St., Barrie from 7-9 pm. Funeral Mass will take place the following day on Saturday, August 10th, 2024 at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 65 Amelia St., Barrie at 10 am. Interment to immediately follow at the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, 208 Sunnidale Rd., Barrie. A reception will be held inside the Church Hall following the interment. For guests that do not wish to attend the interment, please make your way into the Church Hall following the Mass. A Livestream of the Mass will be made available here.

Memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice and are greatly appreciated by the family.
