MULLEN, David "Ross"

Ross passed away suddenly at the age of 92 with family by his side on Friday, July 21, 2023.

Ross will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his children, Ken (Lorrie); Randy (Karen), Gordon, Joanne (Lisa) and Adrianne (Missy); his three grandchildren, Bradley, Scott (Hannah) and Kimberley (Travis) and his loving companion Gail Smiley.

Born in Toronto, Ontario, on August 13, 1930 to parents Edna and David Mullen.

He was a fun-spirited soul who took on many passions; a baseball player as a youth, enjoyed curling, tennis and golf. He loved music and playing the piano. Ross was also an avid collector of figurines, coins and a variety of other interesting objects. He was sure to hunt for Elvis or Coca Cola collectables for two of his children. Ross was also a long-standing member of Masonic brotherhood.

Ross and his wife Lois Eldred Thomson (deceased), raised a family of five children.

Ross’s career was in the grocery business, owning and operating his store on Queen Street in Toronto. He transitioned to work at Thomson Grocers, a family-owned grocery wholesale business, also in Toronto. Ross retired to Lake Simcoe and spent many enjoyable years living at the family cottage at Crescent Harbour, with his beloved companion, Barbara Kissick (deceased).

Ross was known for his big smile and happy disposition. He enjoyed sharing stories, helping people and was a regular supporter of many charities and hospitals.

Ross continued to live independently and was an active member in the community of Barrie.

Visitation will take place at the Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, 30 Worsley St., Barrie on Friday, July 28, 2023 from 10 AM until the time we celebrate Ross's life in the Chapel at 11 AM.  Guests are invited to remain for a reception luncheon before the family proceeds to Barrie Union Cemetery, 338 Sunnidale Rd., Barrie for the interment.

If desired, donations in Ross's memory may be made to Hospice Simcoe and are greatly appreciated by the family.
