With her daughter by her side, Ruth passed away peacefully on Sunday June 18th, 2023 at St Joseph's Healthcare Centre in Toronto, at the age of 78. Loving mother of Jane Douglas (Russell) and caring grandmother of Evelyn and Rose. Daughter of the late Walton and Evelyn Johnston. Sister of Bill Johnston (Linda), the late Anne Moore (Al), the late Peter Johnston (the late Eleanor), Jeanne Bidwell (Don), Jim Johnston (Carol), Tom Johnston, and Laura Johnston. Ruth will also be fondly remembered by her many nieces and nephews. She was a dear friend to many. She will be remembered for her sense of humour, warmth, determination and caring spirit.
Friends and family are welcomed to share in a celebration of Ruth’s life at the Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, 30 Worsley St., Barrie on Saturday, June 24th, 2023 at 12 PM, with visitation from 11 AM. All are invited to remain for a reception gathering following the service.
If desired, donations in Ruth’s memory may be made to Street Cats Rescue in Barrie and are greatly appreciated by the family.
