PARNELL, Shaun

Suddenly at his home in Barrie, Ontario. Shaun put more love and thoughtfulness into his 52 years of life than most could hope in a century. He cherished his wife Kimberly (Burke) and was husband and best friend for 24 years and his proudest achievements, his sons Dylan, 20 and Liam, 15. Shaun is predeceased by his parents Barbara and Wilton. He was a devoted brother to Glen (Christine) of Newmarket, brother-in-law to Scott (Cindy) of Metcalfe, and to Leslie, and son-in-law to Gary and Sheila Burke of Haliburton. He was a doting uncle to Lauren, Ryan, Victoria, Dalton, Tristan and Brooklynn. Shaun exemplified the true nature of loyalty to everyone he met. Shaun’s greatest hobby was collecting friends and holding them close. Shaun was born and raised in Beaconsfield, QC and excelled as an amateur hockey player, golfer and drummer. He took both passions to Toronto in 1980 to attend York University, graduating in economics. He then joined Wawanesa Mutual Insurance and had a fulfilling career in both claims management and marketing, earning his Fellowship in the Chartered Insurance Professional program with distinction. Shaun’s true talent was becoming the constant thread that held his family tight, through his sons’ school events and sports tournaments, music practices, and campfires at the trailer at Paradise Lake. We are devastated to lose his sense of humour and natural joie de vivre far too soon. Family and friends will be received at the Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, 30 Worsley Street, Barrie, Ontario, on Thursday, December 11, 2014 from 6-9 p.m. and on Friday, December 12, 2014 from 12 p.m. until time of funeral service in the chapel at 1 p.m. Cremation has taken place.
