Peacefully passed at the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre on Sunday, December 29th, 2019 at the age of 84 years. Predeceased by her parents Roy and Hazel Marshall, brother Don and daughter Wendy. Beloved wife of 60 years to the late David (2016). Loving mother of Kevin and Kellie, mother-in-law of Andy and Scott. Proud grandmother of Chris, Nicole and Paige, step grandmother of Kyla. Will be missed by Joan and Linda who were like sisters to her, many relatives and dear friends.

Shirley was born and raised in North Toronto and attended Earl Haig Secondary School where she met live long friends and joined ETA Delta Alumnae sorority that did many good deeds over the years. Shirley met her husband David during these early years and they were married within days of her 21st birthday. Always fashionable and never in public without lipstick, Shirley enjoyed socializing but also enjoyed quiet time reading a good book. In the 1980’s, Shirley and Dave moved to Horseshoe Valley where they skied, golfed and met new friends. After Dave suffered a stroke in 1998, Shirley looked after him with devotion for 18 years until his passing. They moved to Barrie in 2003 and joined Collier Street United Church. As her health started failing, Shirley moved into the Serenity retirement home in mid 2019 and enjoyed her time there with the friendly staff and residents. Shirley will be sorely missed.

Guests will be received at the Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, 30 Worsley St., Barrie on Monday, January 6th, 2020 from 7 – 9 p.m. Funeral Service will take place at the Collier Street United Church, 112 Collier St., Barrie on Tuesday, January 7th, 2020 at 11 a.m. follow by a reception in the Church Hall. In keeping with Shirley’s wishes, cremation has taken place. The family would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the staff at the RVH Kidney Dialysis centre and the Serenity Retirement Residence for the kindness and compassion they showed to Shirley. Memorial donations in Shirley’s memory may be made to the Kidney Foundation and are greatly appreciated by the family. Online condolences may be left at www.steckleygooderham.com
