Slipped peacefully away to be with the Lord at Southlake Regional Health Centre in Newmarket, Ontario on the morning of February 28, 2014 at the age of 79. She will be sadly missed by her sons Daniel (Pauline) of Gilford, Steven of Toronto and Glen (Robin) of Alliston. Predeceased by her son Brad (Sue) of Barrie. Beloved “Nana” of Alexander, Michael, James and Michelle. “Best Mate” to best friend Tom Ashton, and “Mama Shirley” to Ula Boudreau and family. Shirley was the daughter of the late Barney and Ida Ryan of New Waterford, Nova Scotia. From a family of sixteen and four very special girls, she is survived by beloved sisters, Marilyn Ryan, Delores Fraser, Vange Gaudet, Arlie Lynch, Gerry Campbell, Patsy Murgatroyd, and Jackie Briand. Shirley will be remembered for her big heart, her warm “Nana” hugs, her quick wit and her unending love for family. Family and friends will be received at Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Homes 30 Worsley St., Barrie, on Wednesday March 5, 2014 from 10 am. to1:30 pm. A mass of Christian burial will then follow at St. John Vianney Parish 13 Balwin Lane, Barrie at 2 pm. Interment will follow St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Barrie.
