Steve Copping passed away peacefully in his sleep at his home in Toronto on Wednesday, February 4th, 2026, in his 80th year.
Steve was a devoted and loving father to his daughter Chantel, a dear father-in-law to Dan, and a proud and cherished grandfather to Jack and Jesse, who brought him endless joy. He will be fondly remembered for his kind heart, quiet strength, witty sense of humour, and the genuine care he showed to those around him.
Steve's passion was gardening. He would rather be in the garden than anywhere else, regardless of the weather - rain or shine, he was happiest with a shovel in the dirt.
He was predeceased by his beloved parents, Marie and Norton Copping, and his sister, Lynn Green (Jim). He is survived by his brother Barry Copping (Stephanie).
Steve will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Friends and relatives are invited to pay their respects at the Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, 30 Worsley Street., Barrie, on Wednesday, February 11th, 2026 from 2–4 pm and 7–9 pm, and on Thursday, February 12th from 10 am until the time of service at 11 am. Guests are invited to remain for a reception gathering following the service. Interment will take place in the Spring at the Barrie Union Cemetery, 338 Sunnidale Rd., Barrie.
