Steven James Shaw (nee Dick), January 19, 1952 to July 10, 2012, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. Loving husband and best friend of Dr. Susan Shaw, dedicated father and mentor of Michelle Watkins (Randy), cherished papa of Joshua, Paxton and Jamison Watkins, son of Julie Dick and the late James Dick, son-in-law of the late Dr. Ian and Judy Shaw, brother of Kevin Dick, Karen Kimber and Ron Dick (Wendy McDowell) and brother-in-law of Cathy Tingey (Grant) and Greg Shaw (Cathy Barrett), favourite uncle to many. His smile, love of life and generosity touched many. He led a life of giving, friendship and service above self. As an active Rotarian for over 20 years, he gave back his community many times over. He was a gentle and caring individual with an inner strength that surprised many. We know we are still surrounded by his loving spirit. He will be missed by all. Friends will be received at the Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, 30 Worsley Street, Barrie on Friday from 2:00 – 4:00 pm and 7:00 – 9:00 pm. Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel on Saturday July 14, 2012 at 2:30 pm. Reception to follow.
