It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of our precious “Mummu” Sulochana (Su) Venugopal on Saturday October 9, 2021 at the age of 82.
Beloved wife of A.D. (Venu) Venugopal (predeceased March 2021). Loving and caring mother of Matt (Marja), Vin (Naomi), Vinay (Hagit), and Anita (Jamie). Cherished and adored grandmother of Micah, Marla, Matti, Maija, Scott, Tyler, Ilan and Maya. Mummu will be dearly missed by her brothers and sisters, cousins, nieces and nephews and many extended family members and friends. She will especially be missed by all of her friends at the Amica Little Lake retirement residence where she brought great joy and happiness to all who knew her.
Mummu was born in India on May 20, 1939 and came to Canada in 1964 along with her husband and new family. Mummu settled in Sudbury and raised her four children before spending her retirement years in Mississauga and Barrie.
Mummu was incredibly talented in so many aspects of her life. She was a gourmet chef, skilled baker, professional seamstress, expert knitter and masterful gardener. She loved to read, watch classic movies, do crossword puzzles, paint and socialize with friends. Mummu was extremely intelligent and loving, and treated everyone with kindness and generosity. She was deeply respected and cherished by all those who knew her. She radiated love for family and took great joy in spending time with her grandchildren.
Thank you for all the happiness, joy and love you have given to us; your children, your grandchildren and all your family and friends. We are so grateful for the lifetime of memories which you leave behind for us to look back on and smile.
We miss you Mummu, and we will love you forever!
Visitation will take place at the Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, 30 Worsley St., Barrie on Sunday, October 17th, 2021 from 10a.m.-12 p.m., with service to be held in the Chapel on Sunday, October 17th at 12 p.m. Online condolences and memories can be made at www.steckleygooderham.com
