The family of Susan Howes (nee Rodgman) is sad to announce her passing on Tuesday March 19, 2013 at the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre. Never one to back down from a challenge, Susan lived life with cancer valiantly with much perseverance, grace, and strength of character. She will be remembered as an excellent teacher who encouraged and guided countless young people through her 30 years of teaching at Goodfellow, Portage View, and Ferndale Woods Public Schools. Her Christian faith inspired and touched all who knew her as she was a supportive and empathetic friend and confidante who praised God in the storms of life, courageously striving to lean and trust in Him. Susan is survived by her husband of nearly 40 years, Trevor Howes, her daughters Catherine Howes and Johanna Howes, and mother Mabel Rodgman. She will be dearly missed by brothers Graeme (Susan) Rodgman and Stephen (Holly) Rodgman, nephews Christopher, Mark, and Stephen Jr., niece Laura Howes, mother-in-law Pamela Lawn, and brother-in-law John (Wendy) Howes. In death, she is reunited with her father Frederick Charles Rodgman (1983) and nephew Andrew Rodgman (2011). Her memory will be cherished by many dear friends. Friends will be received at the STECKLEY-GOODERHAM Funeral Home, 30 Worsley Street, Barrie, on Friday. March 22, from 2:00 – 4:00 pm and 7:00 – 9:00 pm. A Celebration of Life will be held at Bethel Community Church, 128 St. Vincent Street, Barrie, on Sunday March 24, 2013 at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Odette Cancer Centre at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre by cheque only. Messages of condolences may be forwarded through www.steckleygooderham.com.
