Susan Jane Carlisle passed away peacefully and surrounded by family, at the age of 58, on March 25, 2021 after a long battle with cancer. She is survived by her loving husband Frank Carlisle, her two daughters Meghan Cote (Tom) and Erin Carlisle (Grant), and her mother Anne Andrews (Roseview Manor, Thunder Bay). She was predeceased by her father Donald Andrews on February 21, 2021 and her brother David in 1997.

She was born and raised in Thunder Bay before heading out to Winnipeg to attend The University of Manitoba and earning her Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education in 1985. She would go on to earn her Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Therapy from The University of Toronto in 1989, and her Master’s Degree in Education from Central Michigan University in 2005.

Susan met Frank at a national lifeguard competition in 1984, and she moved to Toronto in 1985 to continue her education and be closer to him. They were married on June 13, 1987 and moved to Barrie where they raised their two daughters.

Susan touched many lives through her work and her multitude of recreation activities. Through her 30 years as a Physiotherapist at Royal Victoria Hospital, Susan had a passion for helping others and loved her work in the ICU, as a manager, and in the cardiac rehab program. She was an outdoors enthusiast, and truly loved spending time with her family and friends. She spent her winters skiing at Devil’s Glen, curling in a women’s league, and playing Friday night volleyball. The summers allowed Susan to enjoy time at her family camp on Loon Lake in Thunder Bay, windsurfing in Hatteras, North Carolina, boating on Kempenfelt Bay, and golfing.

Susan was diagnosed with stomach cancer in September 2019. She fought hard through chemotherapy and remained positive and strong throughout her fight, even in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic. Susan lived her life to its fullest and was able to live a life and a half in the short time she had. She will be forever remembered for her dry humor, passion for life, and the love she shared so effortlessly. She will be forever missed, but her light will shine on through her girls and in the hearts of her family and friends.

Funeral services entrusted to Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Homes, Barrie. If desired, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to RVH Cancer Centre or SickKids Hospital.

Condolences
