Fry, Helen Sydney Isobel “Syd”
Peacefully on March 8, 2012 at the age of 71. Loving daughter of late Mary & Archie Fry, Syd was a wondeful sister to her 10 siblings and their spouses: Pete & Betty-Lou Fry, Kate & Frank Wawrychuk, Tom & Jane Fry, Mary Jane & Art Crooks, Joanne & Paul Cranfield, Susan & Bob Gifford, Edith & Wendy Cairns-Parliament, George & Lynda Fry, Ruth & Bob Wight and Sam & Melanie Fry. Aunt to 34 nieces & nephews and Great Auntie to another 32 great nieces & nephews, Syd’s fun loving and adventurous spirit has been a great role model to these younger members of the family. Growing up in Toronto and after graduating from North Toronto C.I. and U of T, Syd spent her next 31 years as an enthusiastic and dedicated teacher and coach working with her many students at both Alderwood and Burnhamthorpe Collegiates in the Etobicoke Board of Education. Her love for her many family pets, woodworking, spending time at her cottage and singing old familiar favourites are just a few of the wonderful fun loving qualities of our sister. The family is grateful to the very caring staff at both Woods Park and Mill Creek Care Centres in Barrie. Special appreciation goes out to the F.K.R Home Health Care PSW staff for their wonderful care and support during Syd’s final days. Family will receive friends at the Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, 201 Minet’s Point Rd. Barrie, on Thursday, March 15, 2012, from 2 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. A Celebration Of Life service will be held at the Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home on Saturday, March 24, 2012, at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to Canadian Alzheimer‘s Society or the charity of your choice.
