Firman: Sylvia Maria (nee Presnick)
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Sylvia on Saturday March 24, 2012 at the I.O.O.F. Seniors’ Home in Barrie, in her 85th year. She immigrated to Canada from Poland with her parents, Samuel and Julie Presnick, at the age of 2. After growing up in Toronto, Sylvia moved to Oakville with her husband Victor in 1955. Together, with his parents Mary and Morris Batuik, they owned and operated the B & M Snack Bar on Kerr St. This later became Vic’s Variety. Sylvia and Mary also owned and operated a fabric and wool shop, just down the street from Vic’s Variety. Sylvia and Vic retired and moved to Orillia in the 80’s where they built their retirement home. This moved them closer to their daughters, Kris and Carol, who were living in Barrie. She will be greatly missed by her daughter Kris Thompson, and by her granddaughter Rebecca Green. Friends may call at the Ward Funeral Home, 109 Reynolds St, Oakville, on Friday from 7-9 p.m. Funeral Service in the Chapel on Saturday March 31, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. Interment Trafalgar Lawn Cemetery. Donations to C.O.P.E. Service Dogs, P.O. Box 20035, Barrie, L4M 6E9, Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of your choice would be appreciated. Condolences may be forwarded through www.wardfuneralhome.com or www.steckleygooderham.com
