Herbert, Logan TATE Mackenzie (August 7, 1992 – June 13, 2013)

Tate Herbert was taken suddenly from us on Thursday June 13 at St. Michaels Hospital in Toronto. Tate was 20 years old. Tate is survived by his loving parents Ann and Ted Herbert and his dear older brother Craig Herbert. He was loved by a large extended family as well including: Grandparents Ross (deceased) and Betty Herbert, Al (deceased) and Faye Powell; Aunts and Uncles Dan Herbert and Janet Stead, Wally and Denise Herbert, Marilyn Herbert, Scott and Carol Powell, Dale and Linda Powell, Kelly and Joan Wilson, Rod and Esther Powell, Lorie and Charlie Vogels, Gay and Russell Martin; Cousins Doug and Laura Herbert, Lee and Casey Herbert, Evan and Jenna Powell, Kayla and Kurt Powell, Taylor and Keely Wilson, Riley and Ally Vogels, Reid and Grace Martin. He had many friends in many locations who will miss him deeply. Though tragically short, Tate’s life was rich with many and diverse passions. He brought a vibrant energy with him to any pursuit he engaged in, whether earning a black belt in Dahn Moo Do Martial Arts, creating expansive and imaginative worlds through his abiding interest in Role Playing Games or riding his home made longboard. Tate also loved explorations, whether it be traveling the world with his family or school, or the comedic arts through his involvement in improv at Wilfrid Laurier University where he studied Law and Society. As though all this was not enough, Tate was also a Classic Rock aficionado who both played and loved the genre and an avid curler at the Barrie Curling Club. Tate was fiercely loyal to his loving and supportive group of friends in both Barrie and Brantford. Tate loved, as he was loved by, his large and intimate family.
Family and friends will be received at the Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, 201 Minet's Point Rd., Barrie, on Thursday June 20, 2013 from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. and on Friday, June 21, 2013 from 12:00 p.m. until time of Celebration of Life at 1:00 p.m. Friends and Family are then invited to convene at the Barrie Curling Club at 175 Essa Road for refreshments, fond recollection and a chance to Honour, Remember and Celebrate Tate. (approximately 2:30 to 5:30)
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Child’s Play, a foundation that provides video games for terminally ill children (http://www.childsplaycharity.org/). Condolences may be forwarded through www.steckleygooderham.com
