Peacefully passed with family by her side at Hospice Simcoe on Monday, April 3rd, 2023 at the age of 92 years. Beloved wife of the late Maurice Coutts (1970) and the late Orville Dobson (2009). Loving mother of the late Ian Coutts (2019), Barbara Brazil (James), Joan Chandler (Geoff), Elaine Johnston (Brock) and Murray Coutts (Dianna) as well as stepmother to Edward Dobson (Louise). Thelma was also the proud grandmother of 11 grandchildren – Christopher (Megan), Brittany, Robyn (Zac), Matthew (Tonya), Justin (Cat), Allison (Brett), Michelle (Ellen), Tom, Broyden (Kelsey), Greg and Ella - and 5 step grandchildren – Katherine (Mark), Stephen (Sarah), Peter, Catherine (Peter) and Kelly (Erik). She will also be missed by great grandchildren and step grandchildren, James, Avery, Devyn, Emma, Leah, Wesley, Madelyn, Lauren, Alivia and Scarlett. Thelma will also be fondly remembered by nieces Pat Raulino, Heather McAuley and Kelly and Kyle Whitfield, as well as a great many extended family members and dear friends in the Barrie area and across the country.

Thelma was well loved and admired by all who knew her. As a teacher for over 30 years, 23 of them in Cochrane, ON, she taught multiple generations of the same family. She became an inspiration to many who followed her in teaching. Thelma was a woman of faith, who loved the north, loved being a teacher, loved singing and choral music, loved community service and loved her friends and family, all deeply.

Visitation will take place at the Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, 30 Worsley St., Barrie on Sunday, April 30th, 2023 from 7-9 pm and on Monday, May 1st, 2023 from 10 am until the time of Service in the Chapel at 11 am.
