Fournier, Rev. Theodore “Father Ted” (Ordained June 6, 1952)
Passed away at the Scarborough General Hospital on Monday May 14, 2012 in his 84th year. Son of the late Ted and Florence (nee Flanagan) Fournier. Dear brother of Ronald (Alice) Fournier and the late Carol Wright (surviving spouse Charles). Is loved and will be missed by his nieces and nephews; Laurie MacKay (the late Angus), Lyndon Fournier (the late Joanne), Michael Curry (Margaret), Valerie Callus (Phil), Gregory Fournier (Nural) and many great nieces and nephews. Father Ted was pastor of Corpus Christi, Nativity of Our Lord and Blessed Sacrament parishes all in Toronto. Assisted at St. Mary's Parish, Barrie, Our Lady of Grace Parish, Angus and Brentwood and Our Lady of Lourdes Parish, Elmvale. He served as professor and Director of Music at St. Augustine's Seminary, as Master of Ceremonies to Cardinal McGuigan and Archbishop Pocock, as Chairman of the Archdiocesan Liturgical Commission and Spiritual Director of the Catholic Women's League. Father Ted had his final year in the wonderful care of the staff at Cardinal Ambrozic Houses of Providence. His private PSW, Albert Baltazar was a blessing. On June 6, 2012, Father Ted would have celebrated his 60th anniversary as an ordained priest. He was a man with an incredible voice, a great sense of humour, he had the ability to touch all with his words in many memorable sermons and someone who greeted each person he met with kindness and a twinkle that lit up his eyes with joy. He will now join his parents, sister and many loved relatives and continue on his journey. Visitation will occur in St. Mary's Church, 65 Amelia Street Barrie, Ontario on Friday June 1st from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary's Church on Saturday morning, June 2nd at 10 o'clock with light refreshments in the parish hall following to share our memories and stories. Those who wish may join the family procession to the graveside at Mount St. Louis Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home. If desired, memorial donations to St. Augustine's Seminary, Toronto or St. Mary's Church, Barrie would be appreciated. Condolences may be forwarded to the family through www.steckleygooderham.com
