It is with sorrow yet a deep sense of peace that we announce the passing of Vera LeBlanc on Friday, December 18, 2009 at the age of 74 years. Born on April 25, 1935 in Timmins, Ontario, Vera lived a full and compassionate life. Among her interests, she was an avid gardener and enjoyed knitting, baking, and spending time with her family. Vera is survived by her loving husband Roland of 48 years, daughter April and husband Scott (Caleb, Bethany), daughter Arlene and partner Larry, daughter Colleen (James, Michelle), daughter Stephanie and husband Bruce (Sarah, Kendra, Daniel), daughter Carolyn and husband Peter (Justine, Timothy), daughter Suzanne and husband Andy (Simon, Michaela, Zachary), daughter Alexia and husband Garnet (Madeline, Avary), daughter Mary and husband Dave (Abigail), sister Mary, and brother Alex and his wife Peggy. She was predeceased by her parents Mary and Pete, brothers Nick, Pete, and Bill and sisters Leda and Nina. Surrounded by her loving family, we celebrate her life with us as a cherished wife, mother to her eight daughters and loving Baba to her fifteen grandchildren. Vera was the cousin of Bill Barilko. A special thank you is extended to the compassionate and caring staff of the ICU and 3 South A at the Royal Victoria Hospital and Hospice Simcoe. Friends will be received at the STECKLEY GOODERHAM FUNERAL HOME, 30 Worsley Street, Barrie on Tuesday, December 22 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 23 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, 65 Amelia Street, Barrie.
