Passed away, surrounded by his family, at the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre on May 26, 2016, in his 88th year. Beloved husband of Shirlie Anne Priest (nee MacDonald) for over 57 years. Dear father of Bing, Johnnie, Mary-Jayne and Dennis. Predeceased by his son David William, daughter Peggy Anne Shirlie and brothers Melville and Delbert. Survived by his sisters Shirley Watson Park and Pat McAuley. Sadly missed by his grand-children Nathan, Trevor, Miranda Jayne, Sherry and Shelly, as well as his two great-grandchildren. There will be a graveside service at Minesing Union Cemetery on George Johnston Road, Minesing, on Tuesday May 31, at 1:30 pm, with arrangements entrusted to the Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, 30 Worsley St., Barrie. Immediately following the service, guests are invited to remain for a reception luncheon at Minesing United Church. The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the staff at Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre for the wonderful care Verle received. In lieu of flowers, donations in Verle’s memory may be made to a charity of choice and are greatly appreciated by the family.
