Hayward, Walter 1925-2021

Left us peacefully on Wednesday, December 1, 2021 in the comfort of his own home at the age of 96. Walter leaves behind his beloved wife of 22 years Irene Jean. Walter never had children of his own but was the loving step father of Richard (Darlene) Bonyun, Marcel Jean, Lucille (Terry Gunton), Lawrence Jean, Susanne (Terry Bugyra), Bernette Jean, Denise Fernandes, Ron (Debbie) Jean. He is survived by and will be missed by sister-in-law Eleanor Hayward of Vancouver, Anne Hawkins, Linda (Mike Newton), Lyle (Jan) Paton, John (Teresa) Hayghbeart, several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephew. Walter is predeceased by his parents the late Walter & Jessie (nee Collins) Hayward, his first wife Helen Bonyun, brother Robert, grandchildren Edward Gunton, Christopher Jean and Laura Lee Rigg. Walter had an amazing career working for the Canada Post for over 33 years. He loved spending his free time Gardening sharing his M.G. Car with everyone and his many trips with Irene on the road with their motor home. Walter made many friends by attending Carpet bowling and service in the RCAF. At Walters request Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of his life will be held at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to Steckley Gooderham Funeral Home – 30 Worsley Street, Barrie. In lieu of flowers a donation can be made to the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul or to St Mary’s church.

Walter loved to argue with Nyla if it was a box or a carton.
