PEARSON, Wilbert “Wib”

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Wilbert Edwin Pearson on June 27, 2023. Cherished husband and sweetheart of Joan for 64 years. Father to Gwen Carr (Milt) and Dale Pearson (Wilma).  “Poppa” to Larissa Putt (Matt), Andrew Pearson (Lyndsay), Adam Carr (Laura), Lydia Westerik (Chris) and his chosen Granddaughter Alycia Hofman (Kyle).  Great Grandpa and “Poppa” to Isaiah, Eloise , William and two boys on the way.

Born and raised near Thornton, “Wib” taught himself many skills that he used to serve and help others over his lifetime.   He enjoyed life to its fullest with his wife Joan beside him every step of the way. A guiding light and constant cheerleader for his family and a friend to everyone who was privileged to find themself on his path.  Above all, he loved and served his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, never allowing his steadfast faith to waiver or be uprooted.

Wib and Joan attended Emmanuel Baptist church for 69 years and cherished their church family.  He was the total package and he lived his 91 years on mission to put others first and make a difference in the lives he encountered.  No matter what came his way, good or bad, it was always “A Great Day”!  Well done thy good and faithful servant...we long for the day when we see you again.

Visitation will be held at the Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, 30 Worsley St., Barrie on Tuesday, July 4, 2023 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM, with service to follow on Wednesday, July 5 at Bethel Community Church (formerly Emmanuel Baptist Church), 128 St. Vincent St., Barrie.  Guests are invited to remain for a reception luncheon in the church hall.  A private family interment will take place at Barrie Union Cemetery.

If desired, donations in Wilbert's memory may be made to Emmanuel Baptist Church and are greatly appreciated by the family.
