Black, William (Bill) Monaghan. (WWII Veteran serving overseas in the Royal Canadian Navy, Former C.N. Machinist and train enthusiast, member of the Sheba Shrine Club Barrie, Valley of Barrie Scottish Rite, Life member of Corinthian Lodge # 96 Barrie and long time member of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church Barrie. Passed away peacefully at the Royal Victoria Hospital, Barrie on Thursday July 30, 2009 in his 85th year. Beloved husband of the late Madeline “Madge†(nee Gartner). Loving father of Sharron Valley and her husband Garry of Barrie, Rick Black and his wife Sandy of Oro, David Black and his wife Louanne of Oro, Brian Black and his wife Sandy of Oshawa, Chris Black and his wife Kim of Mississauga and Marc Black and his wife Lana of Cobourg. Cherished Grandpa of David, Bill, Michelle, Robert, Tanya, Ian, Joshua, Hilary, Tara, Brad, Chris, Megan, Adam, Devan and Shayla and Poppa to great grandchildren Kyle, Michael, Julie, Dylan, Kelsey and Suzy. Brother of Robert Black of Toronto and the late Dorothy, Viv, Elsie, and Ed. Friends may call at the Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home 30 Worsley St., Barrie on Monday from 7-9pm. A masonic service under the auspices of Corinthian Lodge #96, Barrie will be held at 7:30pm. Funeral service will be held in the chapel on Tuesday August 4th at 11:00am.
