William Kenneth Caldwell, P.Eng. - Bill Caldwell born November 27, 1928 passed away in his 83rd year, on November 11, 2011 at Grove Park Home, Barrie, Ontario. Remembered by his wife Shirley; his daughters Linda Lord, Catherine Caldwell and Janet Wilson (Andy). Loving Grandpa to Devon and Kate Lord, Ted, George and Henry Wilson and Madeleine Caldwell German. He was predeceased by his first wife Shirley (White), his son William A. (Billy) and his brother Neal. Bill was born in Barrie and graduated from the University of Toronto in 1952 with a degree in Chemical Engineering. He founded Moldex, Canada’s largest toilet seat manufacturer, in Barrie in 1956 and United Extrusions drainage pipe manufacturer in 1968. His numerous civic responsibilities included; Chairman of the Royal Victoria Hospital Board of Directors, Chairman of Building Committee for present RVH, President Barrie Rotary Club, Chairman and Acting President of Georgian College, Chairman YMCA Building Committee, Director Barrie Chamber of Commerce, Member Ontario Council of Regents, President of the Barrie Raceway and founding Member of the “Barrie Old Boy’s Club”. He was a respected military historian and the first civilian member of the Royal Canadian Military Institute. Bill’s family would especially like to thank Fatima Essar and her team, the staff on Pine at Grove Park Home and Dr. McTurk. Friends will be received at the Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, 30 Worsley Street, Barrie, on Tuesday November 15, 2011 from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. Funeral service to be held in the chapel on Wednesday November 16, 2011 at 11 am. Interment in Barrie Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the RVH Foundation would be appreciated.
