Spoeltman William (Bill) Hendrikus
Born on June 24,1930, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 24, 2013 after a courageous battle with cancer. Beloved husband of Irene for 51 years. Loving father to Anne (Ian) Yorston and Diana (Kyle) Johnston. Proud Opa to Brittany, Kyle, Tyler, Evan and Gabriella. Predeceased by his parents Wilhelmus and Cornelia and his siblings Henny, Fons, Nico and Willy. Former Navy Merchant Marine officer and retired machinist of Molson Brewery Barrie. Bill was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 1626 and a member (since 1978) of the Knights of Columbus JJ Murphy Assembly 2020 Honourary Life Member with the 4th degree. Fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews and extended family in Ontario, New Brunswick and Holland. Will be missed by many good friends. Special thanks to Dr Bond and doctors and nurses from RVH oncology outpatient clinics and the inpatient cancer care unit. Your kindness and care is very much appreciated. In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Royal Victoria Health Centre inpatient cancer care unit in Barrie. Friends will be received at the STECKLEY-GOODERHAM Funeral Home, 30 Worsley Street, Barrie on Tuesday, October 29th from 7-9 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated from St. Mary's Catholic Church, 65 Amelia Street, Barrie on Wednesday, October 30th at 10:00 a.m. Cremation.
